Values & Mission

At Camino Counseling, we strive to provide clients with the highest quality care, using evidence-based treatment approaches to help people reach their goals. We take a collaborative, inclusive approach that prioritizes personal autonomy and accountability. We will treat you with empathy, kindness, and respect.

Therapy, much like the Camino de Santiago, is a profound journey of self-discovery and growth. On the Camino, travelers may set out with the intention of seeking solitude, self-understanding, and healing. Along the way, the path often weaves in a tapestry of unexpected community, shared struggles, and deep connections. Therapy mirrors this journey, offering a space where the individual’s process toward self-awareness and healing is supported by a guiding presence: a therapist.

The Camino seems to provide comfort through its challenges. Similarly, therapy offers solace in navigating life’s hardships. It transforms pain into healing, weariness into rest, and suffering into growth. Both journeys embrace the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of our existence, revealing that true healing often arises from the intertwining of personal and communal experiences.

Some people may start out believing solitude is the path to clarity. Yet, like the Camino, the therapeutic process often reveals the profound strength found in connection — to your therapist, to your inner self, and to others who have walked similar paths.

The Camino teaches that the real journey begins when it ends, similar to how the insights gained in therapy continue to guide us long after sessions have ended. Both journeys are life-altering, leaving a lasting mark on the lives of those willing to embark.

Through the practice of therapy, we honor your unique journey, providing the space to process, reflect, and grow. As on the Camino, you may not walk alone for long, finding instead the strength in shared humanity and the experiences that bind us together.

Let’s work together to embody the phrase “Buen Camino en la vida” — a good journey in life.

The Journey of Therapy:

A Camino for the Soul

Our Name

El Camino de Santiago is a network of long-distance walking routes across Europe that lead to the city of Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. People walk the Camino for many different reasons—personal growth, adventure, physical challenge, reflection, or to enjoy the culture and scenery. Along the way, travelers pass through towns, countryside, and historical sites, often forming connections with others on the same journey.

The Camino Francés, or French Way, is the most popular route of the Camino de Santiago, stretching approximately 500 miles from the town of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The path leads walkers through a wide variety of landscapes, including the Pyrenees Mountains, the vineyards of La Rioja, the vast plains of the Meseta, and the lush hills of Galicia.

Our Logo

Widely regarded as the symbol of the Camino, the scallop shell marks the path forward. While used in physical route markers, it also represents the metaphorical journey of the self and the joining of life’s different paths (both our own and others’) toward a shared destination. Travelers of the Camino often tie scallop shells to their packs to invite protection and spiritual transformation along the way.
